Our Story

Built on Experience,
Focused on the Future

Peter and Peggy Martens founded JenBar Trucking, Inc. in 1983, naming the company after their daughters, Jenny and Barbi. What began with just a few trucks has grown into a fleet of 40+ vehicles and 70+ drivers—exclusively providing service as a US Mail Contractor.

The Next Generation

In 2015, their son-in-law and daughter, Chris and Jenny Hartfelder, joined the business. Chris’ background in engineering gave him a unique perspective as he approached contracting with a systems mindset. He developed JenBar Tracking, an internal software program that streamlined vehicle maintenance, driver schedules, employee records, and contract data.

When USPS introduced major changes to payment structures, Chris expanded this software to include a payment reconciliation tool — helping JenBar keep pace with increasing complexity and preventing costly discrepancies.

A Family Passion for Innovation

Chris and Jenny’s daughter Hannah took full advantage of homeschooling opportunities and graduated from high school in 2023 with nearly two years’ worth of college credits. During that time she taught herself programming in order to support Chris’ continued development of JenBar Tracking, even while juggling the demands of college.

Their experience became the foundation for her master’s capstone: exploring how to bring payment reconciliation to the wider USPS contracting community.

Thus was born JB StarSight.

In 2025, Hannah completed her Master’s in Organizational Leadership and this summer, she led the effort to prototype JB StarSight in partnership with a software development firm.

JB StarSight is designed to help USPS transportation suppliers manage contracts, reconcile payments, spot discrepancies, and get paid what they’re owed — with confidence.

Our Vision

With over 40 years in USPS contracting and a track record of innovation, we believe JB StarSight can empower carriers across the country. We’re excited to invite the supplier community to join us at the ground floor of this new technology.

Built on 40 years of contracting experience—designed for the next generation of carriers.
